Redfern Legal Centre is expanding a pilot project of community education events aimed at reaching those in the CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community who may not have identified their money problems as having a legal aspect or remedy and who would like advice but do not know who to ask.

The project reached out to the community through the co-operation of community organisations who either sought training for their own workers and/or allowed us to be guest speakers at community morning teas, etc. The statistics showed a 200% increase in persons from CALD backgrounds seeking advice.

Redfern Legal Centre is now extending that project into its regular intake area through Botany Bay, Sydney South, Sydney Inner, Sydney West and Leichhardt. If you would like your organisation to host a Credit and Debt Community Legal Education event for CALD communities, please contact Redfern Legal Centre on 9698 7277 and request a EOI form.
