Louise Whelan has embarked on an ambitious photographic project with fellow photographer John Imming. With the endorsement of the State Library of NSW John and Louise are photographing all the different ethnic communities in NSW.

The vibrant images on display are a selection of some of the images Louise has created towards the ongoing photographic documentation into these diverse communities. The upcoming Connect Sydney training workshops are as follows:

Cultural Intelligence

In this half-day interactive workshop you will be provided with the tools to develop your own Cultural Intelligence and develop your ability to communicate and connect across cultures through practical, real-life examples. Cultural Intelligence is key to productive cross-cultural interactions, whether we are serving culturally diverse customers or working together in multicultural teams. It provides a framework for understanding culture at a deeper level and a method to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that support success in multicultural Australia.

Date:              Tuesday 5 April
Time:           9:00am – 12:30pm

Light refreshments will be provided
The above training is delivered by IllumiNations Cultural Training

Introduction to Facilitative Leadership

In this one-day workshop you will learn skills for leading groups and events that elicit everyone’s participation and reach trustworthy and agreed results. The content of the course comes from you, the participants. The methods give you clear guidance for using them for different tasks and settings, such as one-on-one interactions, designing, planning and evaluating projects, with your own teams or other organisations. You will leave this workshop with confidence to grow cooperation and effectiveness in groups and how to adapt the processes to your own situations in life and work.

Time:           9:30am – 4:30pm

Light lunch and refreshments will be provided
The above training is delivered by Maria and Richard Maguire from Unfolding Futures Pty Ltd. http://www.unfoldingfutures.net/

COOK GARDEN MOSAIC PROJECT

INVITATION
COOK GARDEN MOSAIC PROJECT
Dear friends;

I’m writing you on behalf of The Factory Community Centre, the Housing Communities Program, local residents and community workers to invite you to participate in the “Cook Garden Mosaic Project”. The project will take place from the 9th of March until the 27th of April.

The “Cook Garden Mosaic Project” aims to bring together local children, residents and gardeners on a mosaic project to improve the Cook Garden by installing artwork produced by the community on either side of the Gardens entrance gate.
The project will give you the opportunity to be part of several workshops around Redfern/Waterloo (please see workshops dates and times in the attached flyer). The final installation of the mosaic will be on the 27th of April in the corner of Pitt and Raglan St. and everyone is invited to participate.
The mosaic project is being produced under the Waterloo NAB umbrella and is sponsored by the City of Sydney, Housing NSW and Club NSW. At the same time the project will be supported by community groups/agencies like the UNSW Community Development Project (UNSW CDP), SCCA, Mercy Arms and many others that will joins us for this fantastic project. We estimated that more than 200 residents will take part in the creation of the mosaic and the workshops will provide a great opportunity for people to get together.

Should you require further information, or if you would like to participate in workshops or support the project with resources or other type of support, please contact us on 9698 9569 or Claire on 0419 781 755. We look forward to hearing from you.

Remember everyone is invited!

Kind Regards
